Lexington Law Scam: Is Lexington Law Really A Scam Or Are They A Legit Company?
“Ever Heard Of The Lexington Law Scam? I Have, And Here’s The Truth About This Credit Repair Company!”
Lexington Law Scam Intro
But I can certainly understand why you’re asking. You probably think, or perhaps you know, that your credit isn’t the best right now. You‘re looking for a way to fix your credit and improve your credit score.
Maybe you want to buy a house or get a car or perhaps you got turned down for a credit card recently and you’ve figured out its because your credit isn’t going to win any awards.
You’ve probably looked online a bit to see about how to fix your credit reports (there are 3 main credit bureaus, each with their own report on you), and you’ve found all kinds of conflicting information about what to do.
Some places are telling you to simply wait and give it time and it’ll get better. Some are recommending a do it yourself course and others say it’s illegal to remove negative items from your credit reports at all.
Lexington Law Scam Details
So what’s a poor credit person to do and what’s the deal with Lexington Law and their claim to have cleared millions of negative accounts from credit reports over the last decade?
Good question. I’m glad you asked:)
The question has two parts.
First, what can a person do to fix their credit?
There are several different methods that you can choose from that are all legal. They each have their pros and cons. Start with How Do You Repair Your Credit Score and read through the 5 methods if you really want the details on each.
Second, what’s the deal with Lexington Law?
Lexington Law Firm is a real company that has really been around for a long time, like 20 years or so. That alone should tell you that they aren’t a scam. And it’s true that they are the largest company of their kind, i.e. a credit repair company.
And since they are the largest and they’ve been around for a long time they can correctly (as far as my private investigator skills have been able to discern) state that they’ve cleared more negative credit information off of credit reports than any other company.
Lexington Law Firm Problems
Personally, I have two problems with them.
First, the Better Business Bureau reports that they have waaaaay more complaints against them than any other company I’ve checked out so far. More than all the others combined, in fact.
BBB Complaints in the last year:
Lexington Law: 98
See what I mean?
Second, there are other solid credit repair companies that can do everything Lexington Law can do, and they’ll do it for less too. (Like the ones I just mentioned).
When you compare what your poor credit will cost you versus the fees Lexington Law charges to fix your credit, then it quickly becomes clear that they are worth every penny, many times over.
But when there’s probably a good reason why they have so many complaints (though only a small fraction of the thousands of clients they’ve helped), and that you could get the same job done for even less, it just doesn’t seem like they are the best choice out there (I know, danger, genius at work here).
Lexington Law Scam Bottom Line
But here’s the bottom line (or lines in this case):
- Credit repair, in general, is legal.
- You can do it yourself, if you prefer.
- It will cost you a few hundred dollars to let a company do it for you.
- It is legal for you to use a credit repair company.
- Lexington Law is one of those companies and they are not a scam.
- You can have good credit and even great credit in a very short period of time.
The Lexington Law scam theory is just that, a theory. Lexington Law is not a scam, and they’ll most likely do a good job and they’ll save you thousands of dollars in the long run. But there are also other legit companies that will do a great job for less.
Lexington Law Scam Conclusion
For most people, I recommend that they use a credit repair company.
Because usually you don’t really want to learn how to fix your credit, you just want it fixed.
Kinda like hiring an accountant to do your taxes. You could do it, but you’d rather pay to have someone else enjoy that task.
And I’ve also learned that most people don’t stick with the program each month until the job is done. So, even though it’ll cost about $50 per month for a few months, usually a good credit repair company is the best way to go.
Whatever method you decide on, here’s the key: Do it.
You’ve got to take action and then stick with it in order to get the results you want.
